Youth training

It's that time of the year when you should be thinking of training for this seasons Cyclo Cross or thinking of the Road season next year.   Training for this is essential.

With the dark winter nights training become more difficult.  This is where the venerable Turbo Trainer comes into use in addition to club sessions on a Tuesday evening and the Saturday morning runs out.  The Turbo training sessions can be completed at home at night within an hour and there are various programmes to follow to maintain your fitness levels.

Tuesday evening club sessions are important to all club members with a variety of tasks to perform with some short races and usually a game to finish with.   Whatever we incorporate in the evening session it will keep you warm and help to keep you fit.

Saturday morning Club Runs are also essential for fitness.

We have three variations of the club run

  1. Is the shortest of the three being a distance of 13miles for our younger less experienced riders, along the Sustrans track to Cotham Bridge and back, always accompanied by an adult.

  2. This ride enjoys a cafe stop at Bottesford. This ride is by invitation only as 10miles of the ride is on the open road, total distance for the ride about 25miles.

  3. The final ride is for the more experienced rider usually 40/45miles with some hills around Belvoir and with a little speed involved.

All rides leave RHP Sports field at Elm Ave at 9:00a.m.

On all of the training sessions/club rides we must not ignore a very important element of the social side of the club, that is the opportunity to talk to other members and catch up to date with what's going on and to learn essential information from older more experienced club members.
